Patients who have received Medtronic’s Infuse® bone graft product have reported severe complications from its use. While the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved Infuse for use in the lower back, it appears that Medtronic representatives have sold the product for use as a bone graft in the neck portion of the spine.
Infuse was not approved for use in a patient’s neck. As a result, patients have reported serious side effects. Injuries have included abnormal bone growth, nerve damage and impingement, cancer and even paralysis.
